Fork Decals Guide

New decals won't make your fork work better, but they're the cheapest way to make a used fork look fresh or tie a build together with a colour scheme. A decent set costs £10–25 and takes 20 minutes to apply.

OEM vs Custom Decals

OEM replacement decals match the factory graphics — useful if you've scratched up the originals and want to keep the fork looking stock. Custom decals from aftermarket brands like Ride Decals, Slik Graphics and Fox's own custom programme let you pick colours, add neon accents, or go fully stealth with murdered-out black-on-black. Most aftermarket kits cover RockShox and Fox models from the last 5–6 years.

Material and Durability

Quality fork decals use thick vinyl with a UV-resistant laminate layer. They need to survive constant mud spray, pressure washing and trail debris. Cheap eBay stickers printed on thin vinyl will peel within weeks. Look for "die-cut" rather than "printed on clear backing" — die-cut decals have no visible carrier film around the lettering and look far cleaner on the fork.

Application Tips

Clean the fork lowers thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol before applying. Use a few drops of soapy water on the surface so you can slide the decal into position before squeegeeing the water out — this wet application method prevents air bubbles and gives you a chance to reposition. Apply in a warm room if possible — vinyl adhesive bonds better above 15°C. Once positioned, press firmly from the centre outwards and leave for 24 hours before riding.
